This is NOT a Drill
The earth is dying and we are at fault. If we don't act quickly, we will be too late.
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make." -Jane Goodall
Shocking Statistics
There are 100 million tons of plastic in the ocean which breaks down to 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic.
Overfishing is causing an imbalance that is eroding the food web and leading to loss of other important marine life.
100,00 marine animals die every year due to plastic in the ocean.
Over 1 million species are facing extinction due to climate change.
Over the passed 40 years wildlife populations have dropped by 60%.
Human activities release around 37 billion MT of CO2 every year.
If you still aren't convinced, let me tell you what's happening to our species. In 2015 1.8 million people died because of water pollution. There were approximately 4.8 million deaths in 2018 due to air pollution. If you don't care for the other creatures of the planet care for you fellow humans. They are people just like you that are losing their lives because of our collective decision to ignore the consequences our actions are causing.
"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." -George Bernard Shaw
"The Earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations." -John Paul II
At this point our children and our children's children are on track to face incredible consequences due to our actions. If we continue with this trajectory our descendants will be left with nothing but drought, disease and death. They will have decreased cognitive abilities, increased risk of disease and higher risk of death. Perhaps we won't have any descendants at all. Studies show that "children suffer more than 80 percent of the illness and mortality attributable to climate change."
"We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do." -Barbara Ward
Please Universe, let us remember how to walk lightly.
